The Decode Me project aims to create a mobile sanctuary and social group for young girls to develop digital communication solutions to bullying. It will be an opportunity for youth to model positive online and in-person interactions and social networks to grow personally and professionally. Youth will work together to ‘decode’ their reactions to bullying through pictograms/emoji responses to question prompts:
- When I was bullied or when I am afraid…angry…or upset, how do I express it? How could I better decode this intense emotion?
- How can I solve a problem that I may have started but didn’t mean to?
Youth will then share and compare their responses, and upload their images, creating a living online library for other youth in need. This will also provide families a chance to bond and create informal support networks.
Our first meeting will take place at Open Works, Saturday, September 9, 2017 form 12:00pm-2:00pm.
